Gungor – Beautiful Things
I am in love with this song! Here is Gungor’s website!
Non-Conformity
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 NKJV
I have been listening to a Keith Moore series called Transformed, and God has really been speaking to me through the teachings. One point Keith made resonated very deeply with me:
When we accept Jesus as our Savior and are born again, our spirit is renewed. This does not mean we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and our minds are renewed.
Did you catch that? Read it again…. It is our spirits that are born again - not our minds. We have to make the decision each moment of our lives to give Jesus His rightful place as Lord of our lives.
The world is full of individuals that are lords of their own lives. Remember that as born again believers we are in this world, not of it. All too often we conform to the world and its standards and declare ourselves lords over our lives. Be different! Be transformed! Be transformed by the renewing of your mind!
Renewing the mind is a constant and un-ending process. It requires taking captive every thought that runs through our minds. Yes, every single last thought. If the thought is not in line with the Word of God, get rid of it. Philippians 4:8 reads:
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. NKJV
Transforming our minds occurs through constant meditation on God’s Word. Begin today by taking your thoughts captive and be transformed by the renewing of your mind!
What if Jesus had Twitter?
What Would You Do? **UPDATED**
How does this make you feel? What would you do?
**EDIT: It was my original intention to see what you all thought about this video, and we could have an open discussion about it. Seeing as how that didn’t happen, here are my thoughts:
First off, this video made me cry. I have not ever witnessed discrimination anywhere close to that, and it absolutely broke my heart. Honestly, if I had not ever been introduced to such things, I do not know how I would have reacted in a real-life situation. I think I would have been too emotionally overwhelmed to be of much help. Now that I have watched this video, though, I feel better prepared to intercede on the victim’s behalf and would do so in a heartbeat if presented with the situation.
It really bothers me that so few individuals interceded for the victim, but I understand why it was such a small number based upon my reasoning above. Some people are going to be too overwhelmed, and others are going to be too uncomfortable to speak up. Then, there is the group that sees no wrong being done and choose to go on about their business. I sincerely wish these things would never happen.**
